Permit & Inspection Fees

All City Licenses must be renewed annually. Construction, Electrical, and Plumbing Licenses are always renewed by January 1. The other licenses are renewed based on the date the license was first awarded. Please contact Code Enforcement Officer with any questions on permits and applications at (785) 742-7168. Building Permit Fees Will Be As Follows:     

Project Valuation Fees
$1,000 to 2,000 $15.00
$2,001 to 25,000 $15 for the first $2,000; plus $2 for each $1,000 or fraction thereof to and including $25,000
$25,001 to $50,000 $61 for the first $25,000; plus $1.75 for each $1,000 or fraction thereof to and including $50,000
$50,001 to $100,000 $104.75 for the first $50,000; plus $1.50 for each $1,000 or fraction thereof to and including $100,000
$100,001 to $500,000 $179.75 for the first $100,000; plus $1.25 for each $1,000 or fraction thereof to and including $500,000
$500,001 to $1,000,000 $679.75 for the first $500,000; plus $1.00 for each $1,000 or fraction thereof to and including $1,000,000
$1,000,000 and up $1,179.75 for the first $1,000,000 and $0.50 for each $1,000 and fraction thereof

 Electrical Permits:            $10.00 for all work in excess of $1,000 in material and labor costs.

 Electrical Inspections:       $10.00 for initial inspection, $5.00 for subsequent inspections

 Plumbing Permits:            $10.00 for all work in excess of $1,000 in material and labor costs.

Water & Sewer Line Inspections:  $10.00 for each inspection, inspection needs to be done by a City official before the line is buried

After Hours Inspection:     $30.00 per hour with a minimum two hour charge.

 Construction Plan Review:   fees will be equal to the cost billed to the City of Hiawatha for the completion of the work.
