The Hiawatha Police Department is located at 413 Oregon Street in the Law Enforcement Center. Our Department consists of 10 full time certified officers. Also within our organization we have a School Resource Officer, a Detective, and a Captain who oversees patrol functions. Additionally we have an Administrative Supervisor of Department Operation and a Municipal Court Clerk.
Here at the Hiawatha Police Department our mission is to improve the quality of life while maintaining order. We strive to reduce crime through education, awareness and prevention. To us, providing police services is a lot more than just responding to a call and taking a report. It means working with the community to prevent crime and solve community problems. The cooperative working relationship between police officers and the people we serve is improving every day, and citizen confidence in the Police Department is the highest it has ever been.
We are always happy to answer questions. For your convenience, our lobby is open Monday thru Friday 8:00 am to noon and 1:00pm to 5:00pm. We also offer Motor Vehicle Inspections Wednesday thru Friday 8:00 - 11:30 am & 1:00-4:30 pm. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you need something.
