Offering the Convenience of Accepting
Credit & Debit Card and eCheck Payments
A third-party convenience fee will apply to customers who wish to pay
via credit or debit cards and eChecks.
2.5% for Credit & Debit Cards
$1.50 for eChecks
This fee will be disclosed to the customer at the time of transaction with the option to decline the fee and make payments via cash or physical check.
The City of Hiawatha does NOT receive any portion of these convenience fees.
Any payment received after 11:45 pm, may not be applied to the accounts, and may still cause the account to be subject to penalty or disconnection.
** All water bills for the previous month's water service shall be paid on or before the 10th day of the month following the service. For any billing not paid when due a late charge of 10% percent will be added to the bill. In the event that the 10th day of the month falls on Saturday, Sunday, any legal holiday or such other day that the city building is not open for business, the penalty will not be assessed until after twelve noon on the first business day following the 10th day of the month.
** Notice that service will be terminated if the amount due is not paid within ten (10) days from the date of the notice unless the date of the notice to pay the charges due shall be on a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday. The water shall be shut off at 8 a.m. on the 21st day of each month. If the 21st day falls on a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday, then the shut off will occur on the next business day (at 8:00 a.m.).
