REVISED SPECIAL CITY COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES

TUESDAY, MARCH 28, 2006

5:30 P.M.

HIAWATHA CITY HALL

723 OREGON ST.

1.                  Pledge of Allegiance/Call to Order

The Hiawatha City Commission met in special session Tuesday, March 23, 2006 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall with Mayor Trant, Commissioner Shamburg and Commissioner Collins in attendance.  Commissioner Schmitt and Commissioner Gamble were absent.

Mayor Trant expressed concern that there were only three of the Governing body members present.

Commissioner Shamburg said that they should go ahead and meet in executive session to discuss candidates for the position of city administrator.  Commissioner Collins agreed.

2.                  Discussion of non-elected personnel, for city administrator.

Commissioner Shamburg made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Collins, to go into executive session, amended by Commissioner Shamburg and agreed upon by Commissioner Collins, to go into executive session for a period of 30 minutes until 6:10 p.m.  Motion carried, 3 ayes.

The commissioners returned to open session at 6:10 p.m.  Commissioner Shamburg made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Collins, to extend the executive session.  Motion carried, 3 ayes.

The commissioners returned to open session at 6:27 p.m.  Shamburg made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Collins, to return to open session.  Motion carried, 3 ayes.

Discussion ensued pertaining to possible interview schedules and possible tours of the town for the candidates.

Shamburg made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Collins, to extend an invitation to five candidates for the city administrator’s position for an interview and set a tentative interview schedule on the dates of April 6^th, 7^th, and 8^th if acceptable to the candidates.  Motion carried, 3 ayes.

3.                  Adjourn

Shamburg made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Collins, to adjourn the special session.  Motion carried, 3 ayes.
